The St James's field was covered with a frost. Play at the start saw the visitors attacking, but Robinson was safe. The home team then surrounded their opponents Citadel, and Sellick opened the scoring with a low shot. The home team continued to press, and a penalty was awarded to them, but from the kick Gilbert shot over. The Exmouth team were then aggressive, and Winter (who had turned out for them, being a man short) shot a well earned goal, Fenwick and Eveleigh then scored for the Saints, Exmouth were the better team in the 2nd half, but their efforts at shooting were poor, and the only goal scored by St Sidwells came from a pass by Russell,
