St Sidwell’s Reserves v Exmouth Rovers
In the Junior League, St Sidwell's Reserves defeated the League leaders, Exmouth Rovers, by a clear four goals. They had by far the most of the game, and showed more cohesion. The Rovers' gave a scrambling display, and were very weak in shooting.
- Belmont won their game with Exmouth Albion, and with two matches in hand are only two points behind Exmouth Albion.
This match was played at St James' field, in stormy weather. The ground being in a very bad condition. The match was very fast from the beginning, and during the first half Russell (who played a fine game) notched two for the United and Andrews another. In the second half it was expected that the visitors would alter the state of affairs, because with the change over they had the wind, but this was not so. Stokes played hard to equalise and put in some splendid runs, and had hard lines in not scoring. During the latter part of the second half the visitors' left wing made a fine run. He did not score, but was awarded a penalty. Stokes tried, but failed to score. In the last few minutes Fenwick scored for the United. This came as a surprise to the visitors, as they are top of the league.
St Sidwell's thus won by 4 to nil.
