111th BATTERY 0,
Scorers
St Sidwell's Thomas 2,
At the start the soldiers pressed for a short time, but Ashford and Bailey relieved, the home forwards then set to work and the Battery were severly tested, Keech making some brilliant attempts to score. Keech put one shot straight into the hands of the goalkeeper, but at length Morgan and Keech got going and from their foray to the goalline the ball was transferred to Thomas who notched the first goal. Davidson, Eveleigh and Thomas again took the play to the visitors half, but Axim kept them out. On the change of ends the 11th pressed, but their shooting apart from being wide of the mark was also weak, Davidson put in a shot which Axim saved, but he then slipped and Thomas nipped in to score United's 2nd goal.

St Sidwell's, who are now on the top of their form, fought their way on Saturday into the next round of the East Devon Chal- lenge Cup competition by a two goal to nil victory over the 111th Battery R.F.A. The Saints played a dashing game, and their victory was fully deserved. The presence of Keech in the centre greatly strengthened the attack. He was in excellent form, and his brilliant dashes were always a source of danger. He experienced very hard luck in his shooting. The whole forward line performed finely, and their effort deserved reward on more than the two occasions on which Thomas scored. A regular bombard- ment of the goal was maintained in the second half. Davidson was in grand form at half, while Morgan and Wallage were sound. Bailey and Ashford were very sure. The Battery excelled in defence; in attack they were weak. The movements of the for- wards lacked cohesion and dash. Si Sidwell's should go a long way in the compe- tition.
