1902-12-13
Devon Regiment v St Sidwell's
Exmouth Rovers v St Sidwell's Reserves
SATURDAY 13th DECEMBER 1902,
Devon Regiment v St Sidwell's
At the Higher Barracks, the Saints winning easily. Eveleigh headed in a goal, and subsequently put through a second after a splendid run. In the second half the visitors scored several times, but only two were allowed, these being secured by Thomas.
St Sidwells gamed their 12th successive win on Saturday by defeating the Devon Regiment on the latter's ground. The winners fully deserved their victory by four goals to nil. From start to finish they played with characteristic keenness, and were superior to the soldiers at all points of the game. Davies, at centre half, was the best man on the field, repeatedly breaking up what little combination the Devons displayed. Unfortunately, the game was marred to a slight extent by some alleged fouling tactics on the part of the homesters
Team Robinson, Hughes, Campbell, Avery, Mann, Morgan, Sillick, West, Thomas, Eveleigh, Coles.
