St Sidwell's
SATURDAY 9th NOVEMBER 1901,
Broken! The record of Exmonth Albions has been broken, and the team to do the trick was St Sidwell's United (Exeter). The match, which took place at Exmouth created great interest. The visitors proved rather too fast a lot for the home team, who, nevertheless, were the first to score by a combined rush, Chapman doing the needful. Sellick equalised with a splendid shot from the touch line. At half-time each had scored a goal.
When Mann and Sellick scored for the visitors in the second half, the Albions seemed to lose heart, but they must be congratulated in making a good effort just on the call of time, when over-eagerness alone prevented them from scoring. A word of praise must be given to the right back and the goalkeeper, who saved their side from a heavier defeat.
Next week the Saints meet the Exeter United Reserves, in the League competition, and should give them a good game
