St Leonard’s v St Sidwell’s United
League
Saturday 4th January 1902
St Leonard's Away P-P,
St Sidwell's were awarded the win
St Sidwell's United, that rising Exeter team, were again disappointed on Saturday. Only the week previous the Exeter Y.M.C.A. failed to fulfil their fixture, and St Leonard's being unable to raise a team the Saints have not had a match for a fortnight. Their record up to the present is one of which any Club might well be proud. Fifteen matches have been played, matche and of these 13 have been won, one lost, and one drawn. Sixty-eight goals have been scored for the Club and 17 against. Next Saturday they engage Exeter United Chiefs. It is the biggest thing they have undertaken. The Chiefs have not been do- ing so well as they did last season, and will have to play their hardest to win. It is a pity the Saints will not have the services of two players. Flood has retired from the game, while Campbell is on the injured list. However, they have capable reserves to fill the vacancies. The game will be worth seeing, and a good crowd is anticipated to witness the match.
