St Luke's College v St Sidwell's United
SATURDAY 8th MARCH 1902,
St Luke's College v St Sidwell's United
The match played on the College ground, was for the Junior Final of the League, it turned out to be a splendid game. The United were mainly on the agrresive in the first half, and goals were scored for then by Thomas and Sellick, The College attacked in the 2nd half but poor shooting lost them goals. They were, however, awarded a penalty, which was put through. Later the game became very exciting. St Sidwells going at it for all they were worth. Thomas gave his side a further lead in the closing stages, and a well contested game left St Sidwells winners of both the League and Cup.
A splendid game was witnessed between these teams on the College ground. The Saints scored twice in the first half through Thomas and Sellick. The College scored from a penalty soon after the restart, but Thomas again netted for St. Sidwell's.

JUNIOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.
By defeating St Luke's College Reserves on their own ground St. Sidwell's became champions of the Exeter Junior League, and winners of the cup. They have attained this position by marked consistency of form. In Saturday's game they rose to the occasion in grand style. The first half produced a lead of two goals for them, scored by Thomas and Sellick. The College afterwards netted from a penalty, to which Thomas replied, and the end was a win for the Saints by three goals to one. I congratulate the victors on their well- deserved success.
The Exeter Junior League competition for this season is now over, with St Sidwell's at the head. The "Saints" deserve the position they have gained. They have been playing consistently throughout the season. The players have displayed plenty of enthusiasm, and have shown the greatest loyalty. They are to be congratulated on their honour. The College Reserves, the runners- up, have exceptional opportunities for practice and training together, and therefore the credit due to the "Saints" for their performance is all the greater. St David's have also done well, but the other Clubs are a long way behind, as the following table will show:-

St Leonard's quite surprised their sup- porters by winning against Friernhay, especially as they had a very weak team out and played one short. In the first half, with the wing at their backs, they had much the best of the game, the passing of the forwards being splendidly timed, and this enabled them to cross over with a lead of two goals. In the second half Friernhay showed improved form, but the defence was too good to allow them to score more than once, which was obtained from a corner. St Leonard's thus gained two points, and moved above St John's in the league.
