At the time of his signing for Norwich City in January 2025, there was an online claim that Dylan Jones had once been a member of Exeter City's academy. There was certainly a surviving report which mentioned a player of the same name appearing for Exeter City's under-9s in September 2013 alongside future professionals Ed James and Harrison King together with Tyler Dibling who was soon to switch to Southampton's academy. The age category matches with the Dylan Jones in question who was described as a year 13 student at the time of his Plymouth Parkway debut in April 2023. 

A former pupil of Lipson Vale Co-operative Academy in Plymouth, Dylan Jones had been a member of Plymouth Parkway's Devon Youth Cup winning side ahead of moving on to Plymouth Marjons University and staking a regular place in Parkway's Southern League team. Given a trial by Norwich City, he scored twice for the club's under-21s against Crystal Palace before siging a contract in January 2025 to join the Canaries' development squad through to the summer of 2027. Within a few months he was named in the Norwich squad for the Championship match at Millwall on Easter Monday 2025.
