Biographical Text

Walsall full-back Maurice Partridge spent a month on trial with Exeter City during the autumn of 1961 without appearing for the first-team.

Briefly working as a tailor's cutter on leaving school, he signed professional for Birmingham City at the age of seventeen in March 1958 but failed to make the first-team at St Andrews’ prior to switching to Walsall in July 1961. Having made his Saddlers’ debut in the 5-1 defeat against Leyton Orient in September 1961, Maurice was soon after allowed to spend a trial period at Exeter before returning to Fellows Park where he added a further two league appearances ahead of leaving the club in 1963 and joining Rugby Town. 

Soon moving on to Dudley Town and Nuneaton Borough, Maurice later opened clothes shops in Leamington Spa and other nearby towns as well as a 'discotheque' in Banbury.
