Exeter LFC 1-1 Keynsham

Penny's worth

Penny Wilson marked her comeback after a long injury lay-off by scoring Exeter Ladies' goal in their 1-1 draw against reigning Women's Western League champions Keynsham yesterday.

Well the beginning of another season and after an uphill struggle to get the team together we couldn't have asked for a better start.

As always Keynsham gave us a very physical game in which we had to play some good positive foot- ball, we knew our task was going to be a hard one. It has been over a season since anyone had taken a point from this team, and we our- selves had not taken a point from them for two seasons.

We started well and played some good flowing football, when allowed. Our goal came from a very good move across the pitch and couldn't have been scored better with Penny running in on the ball and placing it nicely into the cor- ner of the net, giving the keeper no chance. It was good to see Penny back and scoring with her left foot, in her first game in over a sea- son.

We held onto our lead well until with about 15 minutes to go Keynsham broke through our defence and scored a very good goal.

Our first league performance was good and our whole team gave their all for a very well earned point.

Individual Match Award Sarah Pollard.
