Frome (h)
28th September 1986
Exeter LFC 5-2 Frome
Women's Western League
This was our second league game and after our win at Truro we were brought down to earth with a thud. We found it so very difficult to start the game well and Frome hustled enough to put a stop to us playing any good football. Our op- position took full advantage of our dis-array and with the defence being completely off footed, slotted away the first goal. It wasn't until the last fifteen minutes of the first half that we started to play as we can. Our first goal came from a high cross across the penalty area whi ch Ju Trott controlled well on her chest to bring it down to her feet and volley into the back of the net. Within minutes Di took and excellent chance to score our second goal with a very good shot.
With only a few minutes to go Frome's keeper cleared a shot straight into Mandy Langman's path and from about 20 yards she saw the keeper out of position, picked her spot and put the ball just where she wanted, another good goal to put us 3-I up at half-time.
We played better in the second half and started to put some good moves together, also our fight was back, we ploughed away and Penny became our top goal scorer by putting two goals away in first class fashion of a quick moving forward.
Our end result was pleasing although our football was not as it can be, it was two good points to- wards our challenge for the League Champion ship.
Individual Match Award ... Mandy Langman.
