1981 O'Shay (O'Shea), Nick
Biographical Text
Nick O'Shay is listed as wearing the number eleven shirt for Exeter City against AFC Bournemouth in the midweek reserve league on 1 December 1981. An analyis of English and Welsh birth records suggests this is a misspelling of the more customary 'O'Shea'.
Nothing is known of this player either before or after this game. There was a small cluster of people with this name born around 1962 and 1963 so it is possible that Nick was a triailist aged eighteen or nineteen.
The game in question, played at Bournemouth, was won 3-1 by City with two goals from Graeme Kirkup and one from Ray Pratt. Frank Prince, Frank Howarth and Steve Davey were also in the City side; Paul Compton and Derek Dawkins - both to later feature for Torquay United - were in the Bournemouth team.
