Nick O'Shea, a twenty-year-old American trialist, wore the number eleven shirt for Exeter City against AFC Bournemouth in a midweek reserve league game on 1 December 1981.

City won 3-1 with two goals from Graeme Kirkup and one from Ray Pratt). Frank Prince, Frank Howarth and Steve Davey were also in the City side; Paul Compton and Derek Dawkins - both to later feature for Torquay United - were in the Bournemouth team. 

A player of the same name appeared for Oakland University, Michigan in the early 1980s and later coached the university's women's team for nineteen years.
