Biographical Text
Jayden Wareham joined Exeter City from Reading in June 2025. Aged twenty-two he had also been on the books of Woking and Chelsea.
Part of the academies at Reading and Queen's Park Rangers when at school, he joined Woking on leaving education in 2019 and within two seasons had made 17 National League appearances (mainly as a substitute) for the Surrey club. This was enough for Chelsea to sign him as a development player in July 2021 and, in two seasons with the club, he played for the under-21s in the Football League Trophy and for Leyton Orient on loan.
Moving to Reading in September 2023, he spent two seasons with the Royals and made 44 league appearances (15 starts and 29 from the bench) scoring on five occasions. Rejecting a new contract at the end of 2024/25, he signed a two-year deal with Exeter City in June 2025 with Reading reported to be due compensation.
Jayden subsequently made his Exeter debut in the opening-day defeat at Doncaster Rovers on 2 August 2025 and netted his first goal for the club a week later against Blackpool. Staking his place in the first-team, he had scored nine times by Christmas (six in the league, three in the cups) and - after quickly adding goals against Wimbledon and Huddersfield - was a starter in the Exeter team that lost 10-1 at Manchester City in the FA Cup in January 2026. Going on to score twice more in Gary Caldwell's final month as City's manager, Jayden netted an eight minute hat trick (then the second-fastest in the club's history) in the 3-3 draw at Peterborough United in February 2026 following Dan Green's appointment as interim manager.
