Biographical Text

Danny Andrew, then aged thirty-four, had made around 400  EFL appearances when he signed for Exeter City in September 2025 after a brief spell with Stockport County. A defender, he had been best-known for his time with Fleetwood Town.

Born in south Lincolnshire, he started his professional career with nearby Peterborough United in 2008 but moved on to Cheltenham Town after making just two league appearances. Making over fifty EFL appearances for the Gloucestershire club, but also loaned out to a succession of clubs, he later briefly dropped out of the EFL to play for Gloucester City and Macclesfield Town.

Returning to the senior ranks with Fleetwood Town in 2014, he was on the move to Grimsby Town two years later for a solitary season before spending two terms with Doncaster Rovers ahead of an eventual return to Fleetwood in 2019 where he was to make around 150 league appearances through to 2023. Then embarking on a two-season stint with Cambridge United - where he made seventy-seven League One appearances - Danny subsequently made a handful of appearances for Stockport County prior to signing for the Grecians on transfer deadline day at the start of September 2025 and making his debut in the following match at Rotherham United. Quickly becoming a regular starter, he scored his first goal for City at FC Halifax Town in the first round of the FA Cup.

Soon hit by injury, Danny didn't make a first-team appearance between mid-November and mid-March. Thereafter remaining in the team that faced a dramatic turndown in form over the final part of the season, Danny was in the side that was relegated following the final game of the season against Bradford City but was not offered a new contract at the conclusion of the season.
