Hill, Jon
Jon Hill was a coach at Exeter City who assisted Kevin Nicholson on a caretaker basis following Matt Taylor’s move to Rotherham United. He later joined his former manager in South Yorkshire.
Born in Wigan in 1970, Jon was a youth player with Crewe Alexandra before making 36 league appearances for Rochdale between 1989 and 1991. He later appeared for Witton Albion and, after suffering a career-ending injury, moved into youth coaching at Wigan Athletic, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Working also in Jordan and Norway, he had been employed in first-team roles with Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday before arriving at Exeter City as first-team coach in September 2022 following Dan Green’s departure to Aston Villa.
With Matt Taylor himself leaving for Rotherham United within a matter of weeks, Jon remained at the club to assist Kevin Nicholson on an interim basis until the arrival of Gary Caldwell three weeks later. At this point Jon joined his former boss in South Yorkshire where he remained until June 2023.
