Kernick, Dr David
David Kernick was Exeter City's club doctor from the 1990s.
Originally qualifying as a chemical engineer, he retrained and worked as a general practitioner in Exeter for forty-five years. Developing a specialist interest in headaches, he also ran the Exeter Headache Clinic for over twenty-five years.
A Royal College of General Practitioners 'headache champion', Dr Kernick wrote an article for the college's journal entitled 'Heading the ball in football: what do we tell our patients and why so long to action?' when he was City's club doctor. He was also a chair of the British Association for the Study of Headache, a teaching member of the British Paediatric Neurology Association and a fellow of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.
