Blaine, David

David Blaine, an American magician and illusionist, appeared alongside pop performer Michael Jackson in a publicity event at St James’ Park in June 2002.

Brought from London to Exeter on a special train, Blaine and Jackson had been invited to St James’ Park by Uri Geller, another illusionist, who was an associate of Mike Russell and John Lewis who were then in control of the club.

Then thirty, Mr Blaine had established his reputation in 1997 in Street Magic, an American TV special, that was soon followed by Magic Man, Buried Alive and Frozen in Time. After his visit to Exeter, his career continued with a series of major stunts and presentations over the following three decades.
