Bert Edwards became an Exeter City trainer in 1968.

A former telephone engineer, he had played for Torquay United in his youth before spells with Bideford and Dawlish. Becoming an FA coach in 1962, he had worked with City’s colts on a part-time basis before being promoted to a first-team role.
