Pepper, Dr B J

Dr B J Pepper, who had a surgery at South Lawn Terrace in Heavitree, was Exeter City’s medical officer between January 1967 and 1983. His practice partner Dr R H Moody had a similar postion at St James' Park.

He was in the spotlight in April 1974 when City refused to play the game against Scunthorpe United because of an injury crisis (which led to the Lincolnshire club being awarded the points and Exeter receiving a fine). Dr Pepper issued certificates stating that nine players were unfit with four suffering from influenza and five from other illnesses or injury.
