Mullarkey, Mike
Local referee Mike Mullarkey, a self-professed Exeter City supporter, ran the line in 2010 World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands in South Africa. He later took on an ambassadorial role with the Exeter City Disabled Supporters Association.
Mike, who started his refereeing career in the Devon and Exeter League, took the decision to work towards becoming an elite assistant referee and - usually working with referees Martin Atkinson and Howard Webb and fellow assistants Darren Cann and Stephen Child - was involved in successive European Championship and World Cup tournaments between 2008 and 2014. He also officiated in the 2010 Champions League final (Bayern Munich v Inter Milan) and the 2015 Europa League final (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk v Sevilla).
Later taking on the position of head of assistant referees with the Professional Game Match Officials Board, Mike spoke to the Senior Reds in 2017 and again in 2022. He had also spoken previously at an event organised by the Exeter City Disabled Supporters Association for whom he was an ambassador.
