Gary Newbon, born in Cambridge in 1945, was a well-known football, tennis and boxing reporter for ATV and Central TV in Birmingham as well as for the national ITV network. He later worked for Sky Sports and talkSPORT.

Having started his television career with Westward TV in Plymouth (as did his near-contemporary David Vine of the BBC), Mr Newbon spent several years reporting on Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United. He was awarded the MBE in 2019.
