Facer, Nick
Nick Facer was Exeter City's shirt sponsor during the 1988/89 season but the sponsorship ended abruptly following his death in a car crash in 1989.
Mr Facer, who had started his publishing career with David and Charles in Newton Abbot, had launched Facer Publishing in 1984. The business soon established a reputation for glossy, yet factual, football yearbooks including the European Football Yearbook and the official yearbook of the Football League.
Nick Facer was killed in a car crash in East Devon in the summer of 1989 at the age of forty. Had it not been for the tragedy it is possible that City may have been carrying 'Facer Books' on their shirts at the time of the 1990 Division Four championship success.
