Steve Ridler was a 16-year-old trialist from Minehead who played in a midweek reserve game against Newport County.

'He's only 16 and was a bit nervous,' said chief coach Malcolm Musgrove. But we've made arrangements with Minehead manager Willie Brown to include Ridler in a few more games.

'He's a youngster with potential who can do himself a lot more justice than he showed at Newport. It's not easy for someone his age to come into a team spiced with professionals who he doesn't know.

He later enjoyed several successful seasons with Minehead in the Southern League before reportedly turning down a contract with Plymouth Argyle.
