Fourteen-year-old midfielder from Birmingham registered as an associate schoolboy with Exeter City in 1982.

He signed for the club at the same time as Scott Hiley, who went on to play over four hundred games for the Grecians, but nothing is known about Matthew's progress beyond his initial signing. As a school-age player from beyond the local area, he is likely to have only trained with City during the school holidays.
