The thirty-three year-old winger, who had most recently been playing for Morecambe in the National League, became both City's first signing after relegation to League Two and the first arrival of Matt Taylor's second spell as manager. Born in mid-Wales, he had started his career as a Swansea City scholar/trainee in 2009 ahead of signing a professional deal two years later. Leaving the Swans without making a first-team appearance, but having appeared for St Johnstone and Crawley Town on loan, he joined the Sussex club on a permanent basis in 2014. 

By now having represented Wales at under-19 and under-21 level, he spent two seasons with Crawley followed by another two at Peterborough making around 140 league appearances in the process. Joining Championship club Ipswich Town in 2018 for a reported £700,000 fee, he enjoyed nearly a hundred league outings in a three-year stay. 

Playing rather less frequently during the two years he spent with Wigan Athletic, which also featured a brief spell on loan with Ross County, he found himself out of football for six months before agreeing to sign for Morecambe in January 2024. Suffering the misfortune of being part of the Shrimps team relegated from Division Two in 2025, he was also part of the squad that suffered a second successive relegation the following year.
