Sam Barrell worked for Exeter City as a first-team analyst between 2023 and 2025 before taking on a similar role with Derby County. 

A football studies graduate of Bedfordshire University, Sam later gained a postgraduate qualification in applied sports analysis from Worcester University before working for Scunthorpe United and Lincoln City.

Arriving at Exeter City in July 2023, he was initially first-team match analyst ahead of becoming first-team recruitment analyst in April 2024. 

Sam left the Grecians in October 2025 to undertake a first-team recruitment role with Derby County.
