In 1965/66 Exeter were relegated to the Fourth Division after finishing 22nd in Division Three. City did have much luck in the cup either, being eliminated from the FA Cup and League Cup in the First Round

Westcountry Youth League

Exeter took part in the Westcountry Youth league in 1965/66. They also reached the final of the Youth League Cup where they met Bristol City in a two league final on the 17th May 1966 and the 19th May 1966.
