Biographical Text

Dave Harle made around forty league appearances for Exeter City during the early 1980s sandwiched by spells with Doncaster Rovers. Later playing for Leeds United, he made another return to Doncaster after appearing for Bristol City, Scunthorpe and Peterborough.

An England Youth International, he joined Doncaster Rovers in November 1980 for whom he made sixty-one league appearances in his first spell at Belle Vue. Given a free transfer he joined Exeter City in July 1982. Making his City league debut against Huddersfield Town on 28 August 1982 he started 36 games during 1982/83 and scored six times.

Re-signed by Doncaster manager Billy Bremner in September 1983, he followed his old boss to Leeds United in December 1985 for £5,000 but soon joined Bristol City for £10,000 in June 1986 after he had been at Ashton Gate on loan. Staying just a few months, he moved on to Scunthorpe United where he was more successful and became Player of the Season. Falling into dispute with the management, he then joined Peterborough United for £15,000 in March 1989 ahead of signing for Doncaster Rovers again in March 1990. He later had a loan stint with Stafford Rangers prior to playing for Goole Town and Mossley. He subsequently worked for Doncaster council.
