Colyton Grammar School educated Jamie Vittles signed for Exeter City FC as a schoolboy on his 16th Birthday (15/10/1992) and then as an apprentice professional in the summer of 1995.
During, his two-year apprenticeship Jamie captained the Under 18’s team in the South West Combination League and also made a senior appearance in the St Luke’s Devon Bowl Final when Exeter City FC defeated Torquay United FC.
He played 19 matches, scoring 4 goals in the South West Counties Youth league and Cup in 1995/96 and 16 matches, scoring once in the Devon and Exeter Youth League in the same season.
He played 21 matches in the South West Counties Youth league in 1996/97.
Jamie signed a full professional contract for Peter Fox’s Exeter City team in the summer of 1997, On the 25/7/97 he played the first half of the home friendly aginst Bristol City, at right back, before being replaced by Nicky Medlin, he played against Bridgewater in a friendly for the 1st team on the 28/7/1997.
He left the club as a player in 1998 without making a single Football League appearance.
Following his departure from Exeter City FC Jamie played for Bideford, Gloucester City, Weymouth and Seattle Storm in America. Whilst combining studying a PFA Exercise and Sports and Exercise Science degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Jamie returned to Exeter City FC in 2000 as Head of Community, which is a position that he is still in post today (2020). Over the 20 years that Jamie has been in charge of the club’s community department the charity’s turnover has grown from £55,000 to just over £1.1 million (16/17 financial year) with now over 100 people employed, working on a broad spectrum of programmes, catering for all parts of the Greater Exeter community.
