Biographical Text
Jamie Vittles was an Exeter City schoolboy, trainee and young professional who went on to head and develop the club's community activities through the City Community Trust.
Sidmouth-born Jamie signed for Exeter City as a schoolboy on his 14th birthday in October 1992 and as a trainee when he left Colyton Grammar School in East Devon in the summer of 1995.
During his two-year traineeship he captained the under-18s team in the South West youth league and made a senior appearance in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl final win over Torquay United.
Signing a professional contract at the age of eighteen in the summer of 1997, he appeared at right-back in the pre-season friendly against Bristol City in July 1997 and also appeared against Bridgwater Town later that month.
Leaving the club in 1998 without making a first-team appearance in competitive football, he went on to appear for Bideford, Gloucester City, Weymouth and Seattle Storm in America. At the same time he gained an exercise and sports science degree from Manchester Metropolitan University with the help of the Professional Footballers' Association.
He then returned to Exeter City as community trust manager in 2000 before becoming the chielf executive of the City Community Trust in 2019. During Jamie's first twenty years in these roles, the charity's annual turnover had increased from £55,000 to over a £1 million as the programme grew to employ over a hundred people.
