Martin Weiler looks back at his personal memories of Exeter City Football Club, from the first time he saw the team play Brentford, to watching the Grecians from all six stands at SJP.
I am a german football fan and I am writing a (second) book about lost football grounds. A month ago, I visited the Estádio de Laranjeiras in Rio. As professional men’s teams no longer play there, I count it among the LOST GROUNDS. In this chapter, I’d also like to write about Exeter City’s match at this stadium in 1914. Now I have a question: Is the chant “Have you ever played Brazil?” really well known among Exeter fans? Do you know when it originated? I would really appreciate your feedback!
By the way, my daughter Pia was studying at the University of Exeter until recently.
Viele Grüße
