FH Gardiner was briefly chair of Exeter City in the amateur-era during 1907. 

A player with various local teams (and possibly a reserve team player for City), he was appointed committee chair during the second-half of the 1906/07 season in place of William Fenwick. 

However, with Mr Gardiner moving to Bristol in September 1907, the appointment was short-lived with Mr Fenwick taking up the mantle once more for the remaining few months of the first-team's time in amateur football .
