There were more City casualties, and for the second time in a generation St James Park became host to the military authorities. As in WWI, matches were held to boost morale, but the biggest crowds to gather at the Park came to see the Home Guard performing training drills on the pitch, and a game of American Football involving two sides from the US Navy.
