50 years after turning professional, Exeter City became founder members of the Fourth Division, when the north and south regional third divisions were merged. In their first season, a team featuring Gordon Dale, Graham Rees, and Arnold Mitchell, missed out on promotion despite being considered one of the most exciting teams in the club’s history.
