Fred Parkhouse, a grocer, was a director of Exeter City at the outset of professional football in 1908.
Mr Parkhouse, a forty-year-old grocer with a shop on Blackboy Road close to St James' Park, was one of the six original directors of Exeter City AFC when the new company was formed in 1908 with a view towards bringing professional football - and possibly other sports - to the city. He was a member of the travellling party that went to Argentina and Brazil in 1914.
He died in Exeter in 1947.
