Donovan Wilson, a loan player from Wolves, played ten games for City in 2018/19. He later played in Spain and in non-league football before returning to the professional ranks with Sutton United and Grimsby Town.
Donovan, a Bristolian, started at Bristol Rovers and - after a loan period - moved to Wolves as a seventeen-year-old. The Molineux club then loaned him to Port Vale and Spanish side FC Jumilla prior to making a similar arrangement with Exeter City in January 2019.
Donovan made his debut for the Grecians against Bury on 16 February 2019. This was the first of ten league appearances - three as starts; seven as substitute - before the end of the season.
Donovan was released by Wolves that summer having made four substitute appearances relatively early in his stay at Molineux. He moved to Burgos in Spain and then on to Macclesfield before returning to the Bristol area to sign for Bath City. Then, after just six months, Donovan left Twerton Park for Sutton United in March 2021 in a loan deal that was made permanent in the summer after he had helped Sutton win the National League title. He was to play regularly in the club’s debut season in League 2 and was a goal scorer in their April 2022 EFL Trophy final defeat at Wembley to Rotherham United (former Exeter loanee Chiedozie Ogbene scoring in the same game).
Donovan remained at Gander Green Lane in 2022/23 prior to his release at the end of the season when he signed for Grimsby Town for whom he scored eight goals from 27 league appearances during his first season.
