BIG CROWD AT THE "PARK",
BUT NO GOALS

Tuesday, December 26th.

EXETER CITY O BRISTOL ROVERS 0.

Last Season: City 2 Rovers 2.

About ten thousand spectators, easily a record for St James's Park this season, watched a somewhat disappointing exhibition on Boxing Day when Bristol Rovers and Exeter City met in the return match. The City should have won by a couple of goals at least, but they failed to seize the many chances which came their way.

EXETER CITY

Fryer
Pollard Ackroyd
Rigby Mitton Crompton
Matthews Kirk Crockford Mathieson Dockray

BRISTOL ROVERS

Lea Parker Lunn Morgan Pattison
Currie O'Neill Furniss
Haydon Armitage
Whatley

Towards the end of the first half Crockford, with a golden opportunity, fired over the bar from a few yards out, and Kirk, midway through the second half, made a fatal hesitation with the goal at his mercy.

The only time that Bristol looked likely to score was in the second half when Lea got clear on the left, drew Fryer from his goal, and centred. The ball was too high for Fryer to reach, but Ackroyd, who had covered the goal-mouth, made a timely headed clearance.

Southern League
Argyle v Exeter

The return Southern League match at Home Park was won by the Argyle Reserves by seven goals to nil. Play throughout was one sided, and the winners simply toyed with their opponents. Fowler scored twice in the opening half, and after the interval five more goals were added by Gallogley, Walker, Leslie, and Fowler, who got two. There were 6,000 spectators.

Exeter City Reserves gave a trial to J.Duke, a centre - half who has played for Scunthorpe and Bristol City.

Final Score
Argyle 7-0 City
