DESCRIPTION

The Football League match at "The est," Norwich, postponed on account of the Grecians' F.A.Cup-tie against Watford, was played this afternoon. The weather was bitterly cold, but the frost of the early morning had given slightly, and the ground was "sticky." The "gate" proved to be the poorest of the season.

Norwich City opened in whirlwind fashion, intent on an early goal and Bailey was quickly in action. He demonstrated his quality by the cool way in which he fielded a swerving shot from Hannah and a "hot" one from Murphy.

Fourteen minutes from the start Hannah scored for Norwich after a pretty move by Austin and Banks on the right wing. The City were playing nice football but keeping the ball too close, and the long passing and rushing tactics of the Canaries stood them in better stead. Jackson scored for Norwich following a free-kick, and at half-time led by two goals to nil.

SECOND HALF.

There was a marked improvement in Exeter's play when the was resumed, and Williamson was severely tested by Lowson and next by Davis. The Grecians continued to press, but appeared to be in two minds as to what to do at the crucial moment, and chances were lost through the hesitancy of the forwards.
Then Jackson followed up a centre from Stoakes and netted the third goal for the Canaries, his fast shot from close in giving Bailey no chance. Hannah was a dangerous centre-forward, being too quick off the mark for Crompton, and from one of his passes the ball was shot home by Jackson for the fourth goal.
