FA Cup Q6

F.A.CUP: SIXTH QUALIFYING ROUND

Proud of the splendid success of their two clubs, St Albans and Barnet, in the F.A.Cup Qualifying Competition, Hertfordshire people declare emphatically that this season "Herts Are Trumps!" Whatever the results of today's ties, Herts natives will feel that with the amateur world Barnet and St Albans are the cream of the South.
The weather was dull but dry, and at 2 o'clock there was a crowd of two thousand, with the turnstiles now clicking rapidly. The Grecians were first out, and Barnet followed in the order of size, tallest first. Fletcher won the toss, and in the first half Barnet occupied the St James's Road end, having the advantage of a light breeze.

Barnet:

Barnet put up a very plucky fight, but were outpointed, and if the Exeter attack had not got out of joint through temperamental play by Kirk they might have built up quite a substantial score. As at Bristol, the honours of the day among the Exeter forwards rested with Compton and Matthews, and in defence with Charlton. Davis opened the scoring in five minutes, heading the ball into the net from Compton's centre, and shortly before the interval a second goal was added by Kirk, from the edge of the penalty area. Just before the end Blackmore netted the third goal from Compton's pass. Kirk was cautioned by the referee for fouling.

The receipts amounted to £484, the attendance being 7,950.
