Millwall 3-0 Exeter City
Saturday, December 5th 1925.
Attendance: 8,000
Millwall: Fox; Fort, Hill; Amos, Bryant, Graham; Chance, Moule, Landells, Dillimore, Gore.
Exeter City: Pavey; Pollard, Charlton; Pullan, Potter, Shelton; Matthews, Kirk, Blackmore, Myers, Compton.
Referee:- Mr C.F.Moon, of Bristol.
Millwall won because they were much quicker on the ball than the City, whose forwards lacked cohesion and forcefulness, and were at no time in the game seen to advantage. Blackmore in the centre showed a real lack of initiative, and his hesitancy lost his side several good opportunities. Kirk was the only man in the front line to show any brilliance or constructive work. Although there was a seasonal nip in the air it was fine weather, and there was a crowd of eight thousand spectators at The Den. In just under five minutes Moule scored Millwall's first goal after Pavey had cleared a corner kick, and at 35 minutes Pavey failed to clear from Gore, and Bryant scored number two. At the start of the second half Exeter tried to force the pace but. were driven back, and Dillimore scored a simple goal after Pavey had punched out a shot from Landells.
WESTERN LEAGUE MATCH,
AT ST JAMES'S PARK.
City Reserves 1 (BUDD) Bath City 0
After twenty-three minutes Budd hit the cross-bar and Lievesley crossed the ball for Bolam to shoot into the side netting. Ten minutes before the interval the referee awarded Exeter a penalty kick, but Lowton's shot went a long way up the big end bank. Budd won the match for Exeter two minutes from time with a shot from a rebound off the crossbar by Bolam.
City Reserves:- Bailey; Lowton and Flynn; Hawkins, Arscott, and Crawshaw; Newman, Bolam, Casson, Budd, and Lievesley.

Glorious weather favoured the "Friendly" match at St James's Park this afternoon, between the Grecians and Bristol City, who turned out in blue jerseys and white knickers. Exeter City's League fixture against Brentford was postponed, on account of the Bees' engagement in the second round of the Cup, against Bournemouth United.
Blackmore's Marksmanship a Big Feature.
The attendance at St James's Park, despite the attraction of such a side as the "Babes," was only 2,000, and in itself this illustrates the extra grip attaching to organised competition matches. Exeter were a goal up after only two minutes, Lievesley heading the
ball into the net very neatly but with little force. Four minutes later a beautiful square pass by R.Kirk was driven into the Exeter net by the powerful Keating at express speed. At length Blackmore chased a forward pass, forcing his way between
the backs, and netted a fine goal after drawing Davis out. A corner taken by Matthews led to a sharp tussle in the Bristol City goalmouth, and from Shelton's pass Blackmore found the corner of the net with a fast shot. Ten minutes before the interval a centre from Potter was converted by Blackmore, who thus completed the "hat trick."
Half-time:
Exeter City 4 Bristol City 1.
Blackmore's marksmanship was again the big feature when the match was resumed. With one magnificent drive he missed by inches, and a second glorious effort was turned over the bar by Davis. Further goals were added by Matthews for Exeter, and by Walsh and Keating for Bristol.
In the Southern League match at Weymouth, Budd scored for the City Reserves, who led 1-0 at the interval, but Windalls and Bell scored for Weymouth in the second half.
