Attendance: 5,000
SATURDAY, APRIL 4TH,
AT ST JAMES'S PARK
Exeter City 0 Luton 1
Attendance 5,000.
The City played extraordinarily badly, or they would not have been beaten, for Luton had no great merit. For Luton it was a big triumph, being their first away victory this season. The goal scored by Dennis was the direct result of a mistake by the City defence, and as the outcome of this defeat the Grecians are out of the promotion picture.
Referee: Mr E.E.Small, of Bristol.
Exeter: Bailey; Pollard, Flynn; Pullan, Crompton (captain), Potter; Matthews, Kirk, Lievesley, Davis, and Compton.
Luton:- Brookes; Anderson, Till (captain); Walker, Jennings, Millar; Thirlaway, Shankley, Kerr, Reid, and Dennis.
Llanelly v City Reserves
4th April 1925
EXONIANS AT LLANELLY.
Exeter City profited by their visit to Llanelly by effecting a draw at two goals each and so sharing the League points. At the outset the bustling tactics of the Welshmen prevented Exeter getting into their stride, but gradually they improved, and Smelt put in a shot which was tipped over the bar. However, Shelton, after beating several men, got between the backs and scored with a fast, low shot.
Half- time:-Exeter, 1 goal; Llanelly, 0.
Two minutes after the resumption. Smelt added a goal for Exeter, who were controlling the game. The Welshmen rallied near the close, and Lievesley netted after a soramble in front of the net. Stanton scored the equalizing goal while Exeter were appealing for offside.
