Exeter City, whose record this season has been the cause for a great deal of gratification, and whose home engagements have ended, journeyed to the South Coast of Sussex to oppose Brighton in the last but one of their Football League games. The weather at Brighton was cloudy, and there was an attendance of just over six thousand.

The game opened in sensational style, as right from the kick off Tommy Cook broke clean through and left Bailey helpless, shooting into the net from fifteen yards' range. Exeter were under pressure throughout the first half, and Bailey made three brilliant saves from Cook, Hopkins, and Wilson. Brighton nearly added to their score in the first minute of the second half, a shot from Hopkins hitting the side netting, and one from Jennings shaved the crossbar. Misfortune befell Exeter midway through the half, Kirk having to retire with an injured leg. Cook scored Brighton's second goal, heading a dropping ball from Wilson into the net well out of the reach of Bailey.
CITY RESERVES V PONTYPRIDD.
Southern League
A good game was anticipated at St James's Park this afternoon, from the meeting of the City Reserves and Pontypridd for Southern League points. The visitors are strongly in the running for the championship, and the City Reserves were well represented. The Reserves took the lead in three minutes by means of penalty for hands, finely taken by Lowton. A splendid bit of a work at top speed by Crawshaw and Newman got the Pontypridd defence on the run, and Curran handled Newman's centre to prevent Davis getting the pass. Lowton's spot kick had the old International goalkeeper guessing till he picked the ball out of the net. Twenty minutes later Murray slammed the ball hard into the net from Smelt's centre, to register the City's second goal. Just before the end of the game good play on the Exeter left saw Shelton supply a nice pass, from which Davis beat Alderson for a simple third goal to Exeter.
The teams were:
City Reserves: -
Pavey Coleburne Lowton Crawshaw Appleyard Jones Newman Smelt Davis Murray Shelton
Pontypridd:-
Alderson Curran Mackrill Walton Garratt Smith Price Casson Coates Parry Danskin
Result: City Reserves 3 Pontypridd 0.
