BOURNEMOUTH AND BOSCOMBE 3 EXETER CITY 1.

Doncaster having been injured at Southend on Wednesday, the City took the bold step of introducing Kenneth Frederick Courtney, the 16-years old South Molton amateur, who has created a good impression in one or two games for the City Reserves. The playing pitch at Dean Court was in excellent condition and the sun shone brightly. The 6,000 or so spectators cheered Exeter warmly on their entrance to the field, no doubt on account of the Grecians' cup exploits, which have created a good impression in the South of England. Miller beat Eyre in the toss, and Exeter had the advantage of the sun and a light breeze in the first half. There was a sensational start, Scott scoring in the first minute following a sharp tussle in the Exeter goalmouth. Angus was crippled and went to outside right, Ditchburn going centre half, Armfield inside right and Purcell right half. Exeter's best attempts at scoring so far had been two free kicks by Baugh to the Bournemouth goalmouth, but Houghton eventually equalised with a typical cross shot, left footed. Half-time Bournemouth 1 Exeter City 1. Eyre and Webb scored for Bournemouth in the second half, and had it not been for the brilliant goalkeeping of Davies several more goals would have been added.

Bournemouth:- McSevich; Hayward, Brown; Turner, Coxford, Moralee; F.Sherman, Scott, Eyre, Webb, and Russell.
Exeter City: Davies; Baugh, Miller; Ditchburn, Angus, Barber; Armfield, Purcell, Varco, Houghton, and K.F.Courtney.
Referee: Mr F.W.Reeve, of Devonport.

EAST DEVON LEAGUE 2.

Friendly match at St James's Park. Shanks captained the City Reserves, and won the toss, and the League XI kicked off towards St James's Road.

City Reserves:- Jones; Shanks, Gray; Inglis, Hyde, Bright; J.Gumm, McCosh, Parsons, Halliday, and Lister.
East Devon:- Cudmore; Anthony, Pursher; Edworthy, Boobier, Radford; Erredge, Coombes, Kenshole, Williams, and Chambers.

City were first to become aggressive, and Inglis struck the crossbar with a terrific drive from 25 yards. Parsons and Lister scored two quick goals for the Grecians, but J.Radford, the former schoolboy International, was very cool and deliberate in opposition to the clever Halliday and Lister wing. A goal by Parsons was followed by two for the League by Kenshole. Parsons, who was in brilliant shooting form, scored Exeter's fourth, fifth, and sixth goals and Halliday headed in the seventh. Lister in the second half got the eighth Exeter goal, and Parsons missed a couple by wild shooting.

BRISTOL ROVERS RESERVES 4
EXETER CITY RESERVES 2.

The Rovers had out a strong side at Stapleton Road, including the Bristol University goalkeeper, and Ball, a first team player, at inside right, who was making his first appearance since being injured last December. In the early stages there was a lot of wild and aimless kicking on both sides, but after ten minutes Dando scored for the Rovers. Exeter replied strongly and McCosh shot over from a good position, and the home goalkeeper saved a terrific drive from Mortimer, a young amateur who was given a trial at outside right in the City team. Ten minutes before the interval Hamilton placed the Rovers further ahead but
Parsons reduced the lead just before half-time, when the score stood 2-1 in favour of the Rovers. Jones was at fault in the second half when the Rovers scored two more goals, neither was he too well protected by the backs, who did little to enhance the good reputation they have earned this season. Ditchburn played brilliantly at centre half for Exeter, particularly after the interval when the Grecians were under heavy pressure. Parsons, who was Exeter's best forward, scored their second goal, but was disheartened by some of the referee's decisions in the
matter of being offside.

City Reserves: - Jones; Gray, Shanks; Hill, Ditchburn, Bright; H. Mortimer, McCosh, Parsons, Halliday, and Lister.

TAUNTON TOWN 1
EXETER CITY RESERVES 1.

Exeter City Reserves played their second Southern League match in two days, travelling to Taunton on Thursday afternoon by 'bus and kicking off in the evening, at 5.30 p.m. Taunton opened the scoring five minutes after the start. Wilcox sent the ball well down the field with a free kick and Western netted with a first time shot. Halliday equalised twenty minutes later when he sent in a powerful shot which cannoned off McLean into the Taunton net. There was no scoring in the second half, but Varco and Halliday, who were the mainstays of the Exeter attack, went close on several occasions. Exeter gave a trial to Smale, the Okehampton amateur, at right back, Gray occupying the centre half position. Smale used to partner Jim Wright, the Torquay United defender, at full back for Okehampton.

City Reserves:- Jones; Smale and Shanks; McCosh, Gray, and Bright; Mortimer, Kenshole, Varco, Halliday, and Lister.
