EXETER CITY 2 QUEEN'S PARK RANGERS 0.

The weather, after a deluge of rain, cleared this afternoon in nice time for Exeter City's last Football League match of the season, a home fixture with Queen's Park Rangers. When the players came out the sun was shining brilliantly, but pools of water lay all over the pitch. The rival captains, Charlie Miller and Bob Pollard, were a few seasons ago partners at full back in a fine Exeter City defence. Today Miller won the toss, and Exeter lined up at the St James's Road end.
Exeter City:- Davies; Baugh, Miller; Clarke, Angus, Barber; Armfield, Purcell, Varco, Houghton, and Doncaster.
Referee:- Mr E.Pinckston, of Birmingham.
Rangers :- Pickett; Pollard, Harris; Sales, Armstrong, Whatmore; Coward, J.C.Burns, Legge, Rounce, and Sheppard.

There were less than 4,000 spectators when play started, and Legge missed a chance for the Rangers in the first minute by shooting weakly past the post. Varco with a possible scoring chance at the other end also shot wide. The Rangers' crossbar was struck twice by shots from Exeter players, first by Varco and then by Barber, but six minutes before the interval Purcell, who was Exeter's best forward, wound up an all-out attack by driving the ball low and hard past Pickett and into the net. Fourteen minutes from the finish Varco, receiving the ball from a throw in by Clarke, scored Exeter's second goal.

In the first five minutes Ward hit the Exeter upright with a rousing point
blank drive, and within a couple of minutes more he slipped his way between Gray and Shanks and scored a nice goal. Williams scored Barry's second goal just before half-time, Crompton having previously shot again the post. In the early stages of the second half Halliday and Parsons put their shots over the bar, but the City's attack was not sustained, owing to the tackling and clever positional covering of the Welsh backs. Williams scored Barry's third goal and Ward the fourth, and in between these goals McCosh got one for the City.

The Exeter team was:- Jones; Gray, Shanks; Inglis, Ditchburn, Dennington; J.Gumm, McCosh, Parsons, Halliday, and Lister.
Dennington was making his first appearance since being injured at Torquay in January.

TAUNTON TOWN 0
EXETER CITY RESERVES 2.

The Western League match at Taunton, on Thursday evening, resulted in a win for the City Reserves by two goals to nil. It also gave Exeter Reserves the championship of the League. Halliday in 20 minutes opened the scoring for Exeter with a shot from thirty yards, the ball being badly mis judged by Bristowe, who usually a very safe goalkeeper. Taunton attacked, their forwards being very persistent, but the City had in Gray and Shanks two splendid and dependable backs, and Jones was given very little to do.
Half-time:
Taunton 0 Exeter Reserves 1.

Taunton did the bulk of the attacking in the second half. They forced a few corners, one of which was fisted out by Jones from Walker. Western, who played on the left wing, was conspicuous in the Taunton attack, but Gray mostly had him well covered. Five minutes from the finish McCosh scored Exeter's second goal as the result of a fierce tussle in front of the Taunton posts. From then on there was more feeling than football, and players of both sides were spoken to by Mr Yandle, the referee.

The City team was:- Jones; Gray, and Shanks; Inglis, Ditchburn, and Bright; J.Gumm, McCosh, Parsons, Halliday, and Lister.

Exhibition Match
BRIDPORT v EXETER CITY.

Exeter City's visit to Bridport for an exhibition match on Thursday evening attracted a crowd of over two thousand spectators, and resulted in a win for the Grecians by 2 goals to 0. Houghton and Purcell were the scorers. Bridport were specially strengthened by the inclusion in their team of some well known players from a wide area.

The first half was well contested, and the score-sheet was still blank when the interval was signalled. Both goalkeepers had made admirable saves. In the second half the City gave the crowd a demonstration of their Cup-tie football, and Spencer, the home goalkeeper, made innumerable saves. Following the match the Exeter City players and officials were the guests of the Bridport club at a dance which was largely attended

Southern League.

Defeating Barry by a goal to nil at St James's Park this afternoon, in the final Southern League match of the season, Exeter City Reserves established a record that will take some beating. They are champions of the Southern and Western Leagues, and have captured all the home points for which they have played in these competitions. They have scored 65 goals to 8 in the total of 17 games.

In warm weather and on a hard ground the following teams took the field with
a crowd of 2,000 in the grandstand and terraces.

City Reserves:- Jones; Gray, Shanks; Hill, Inglis, Bright; J.Gumm, Ditchburn, Parsons, McCosh, and Lister.
Barry:- Owen; B. Davies, Hinton; Keohane, Gardner, Clark; Condon, W.Davies, Morgan, Ward, and Williams.
Referee:- Mr J.J.Hughes.

Barry, who had beaten the Grecians by 4-1 in Wales, made their opponents go all the way the return game. The first half play ran in favour of Exeter, but their eager attempts to open the scoring were all frustrated by a very stubborn defence in which team play was at a high level. The second half was twelve minutes old when Ditchburn obtained the only goal. of the game, beating Owen with a stinging shot from 20 yards' range. Condon for Barry hit the post with Jones beaten, but generally Exeter were the more effective side and Owen had to make several good saves.

BRIDGWATER AND DISTRICT 3
EXETER CITY 6.

One of the biggest crowds seen on the Bridgwater Rugby Club ground in this or any other season assembled to see a match between Exeter City's full League and Cup team, apart from Houghton, who has gone to Canada with the Football Association touring side, and an eleven representing Bridgwater District. It was the first time an English League club had visited the town, and it was accordingly a great attraction. Exeter attacked from the kick off, and Purcell hit the upright with a good shot, having received the ball from Clarke's free kick for a foul. Roberts and A. Ball missed for Bridgwater, and Clarke for Exeter shot just over. Varco scored for the City with a drive which cannoned into the net off the underneath side of the crossbar. Purcell and Doncaster added to the score, which at the interval was 3- nil to the Grecians. Exeter delighted the spectators with their skilful and fast play, and Varco scored the fourth goal directly the second half started. Further goals were added by Tarr for Bridgwater and Varco for the City. The sequence of scoring by Tarr and Varco was repeated, then A.Ball got Bridgwater's third goal.

Exeter City: Davies; Baugh, Miller; Clarke, Angus, Barber; Armfield, Purcell, Varco, Halliday, and Doncaster.
