Watford v Exeter City April 23rd 1932.
WATFORD 1 EXETER CITY 0.
The people of Watford who could not get tickets for the Cup Final assembled in the number of 7,000 at Vicarage Road this afternoon. The sun shone all the way from Exeter to Watford this morning, and after a pleasant journey the Grecians reached their destination threequarters of an hour before the kick-off.
Watford: Holland; Brown and Richards; Stokes, O'Brien (captain), and Woodward; Chapman, Barnett, James, Lowe, and Barnes.
Exeter City: - Davies; Gray and Miller (captain); Clarke, Childs, and Barber; Armfield, Roberts, Varco, Houghton, and Doncaster.
Referee:- Mr W.L.Lewington, of Croydon.
The Exeter forwards were again a very disappointing line and must bear most of the responsibility for this reverse. Splendid work was done by Davies, Gray and Miller, and this trio unquestionably saved the City from a substantial defeat. Watford could not get going properly until the second half was well in progress, and then they owed most of their success to the poor play of the City forwards, who were rarely well together. Armfield and Roberts were a lively wing in the first half, but after the change of ends, when the City were expected to do well with the wind behind them, the Exeter forward work went all to pieces. Roberts stood out as the one hope of the Grecians' front line, for even Houghton failed to produce his customary skill. As the game developed Watford would not have been flattered by a bigger score. Their goal came midway through the second half when James converted a pass from Barnes close in.

EXETER CITY RESERVES 3
BATH CITY 1.
The effect of the Association Cup Final broadcast was illustrated at St James's Park by the smallness of the attendance this afternoon, and there can be little doubt but that the lesser League clubs suffer greatly through the attraction of the wireless. Guyan, the old Exeter centre-forward, was not included in the visitors' team, but George Howson figured for them at right back.
City Reserves:- Jones; Ditchburn and Baugh; A.Johnson, Angus, and Robinson; Purcell, Woodward, S.Hurst, Halliday, and Courtney.
Bath City: Prout; Howson and Sambridge; Coleman, Hall, and Cowan; Butt, Whipp, Davidge, McCarthy, and Green.
Exeter City Reserves are to be congratulated on their Southern League success against a club with such a good record as Bath City. Stanley Hurst, the Tipton St John's railway porter, made a very good impression again by his astute leadership of the home attack, and once again he was among the goal-scorers. Baugh got Exeter's first goal with a penalty kick given against Hall for "hands," then Hurst through hesitation on the part of Cowan and Howson was allowed time to get the ball under control, whereupon he beat Prout with a fine drive in the bottom corner of the net. Shortly before the interval a simple looking centre from Butt was not cleared as it should have been, and the ball went to Green, who found the net with a rising shot to the top corner. Half-time:
City Reserves 2 Bath City 1.
Aimless kicking marked the opening stages of the second half and play descended to a very low level. Prout was later kept busy, and made outstanding saves from Woodward, Hurst, and Halliday. Purcell ran through to meet a centre from Courtney but shot disappointingly wide of the goal. Woodward scored for Exeter close on "time."

GRECIANS AT SIDMOUTH.
Exeter City's full Football League eleven visited Sidmouth on Thursday evening to oppose a representative local side, and a large crowd greatly enjoyed a very attractive encounter in which much clever football was played.
The City won by 8 to 3, their goals being scored by Varco (3), Purcell, Clarke, Houghton, Barber, and Roberts. Dunsford netted twice for Sidmouth and Bess got their other goal.
Sidmouth: Hughes; Vosper and Spencer; Gardiner, Reed, and Courtney, Marchant, Dunsford, Bess, and Pile.
Exeter City:- Davies; Gray and Miller;
Clarke, Childs, and Barber; Purcell, Roberts, Varco, Houghton, and Doncaster.
Following the match both the teams and their friends were entertained to dinner and a cabaret at the Royal London Hotel.
