Biographical Text

William Caddy born in Plymouth, signed from Woodland Villa (Plymouth) and played just twice in the Southern League for Exeter City in 1911/12. A navy man, he was one of the relatively few Devon-born players to appear for the club during its early professional days.

Hailing from Plymouth and joining from a club in the city, it was perhaps fitting that William made his Exeter City debut against Plymouth Argyle on 26 December 1911.

He appeared once more for the Grecians - against West Ham United on 17 February 1912 - and later joined the Royal Navy.

William died in Plymouth in October 1956.
