YUILL SAVES MILLWALL'S 100% RECORD
LIONS CRAFT COUNTERED BY IMPROVED TEAM-WORK
Exeter City Beaten but Not DisgracedSaturday, September 15th 1934.
Exeter City 0 Millwall 1.
Although the weather became very dull as the hour for the kick off approached the air was very close. The crowd of about 7,000 who saw Miller win the toss included the former City full-back, Wilf Lowton of the "Wolves." Millwall travelled West in defence of a one hundred percent record, and up till today had successfully disposed of Watford, Gillingham, Newport, and Bournemouth.

MILLWALL
Exeter went down gallantly and did not deserve to be beaten. If the match is taken in its entirety Millwall were not so aggress ive as Exeter, but their defence rose to great heights. On many occasions Yuill was the saviour of his side, and apart from the wonderful display of the goalkeeper, stern tackling and a slice of good fortune when it was needed enabled the "Lions" to keep alive their 100% record. A draw would have been a much fairer result. The only goal of the game was scored by Yardley, with fifteen minutes remaining for play. Angus was pulled up for a foul, and from the free kick the ball went to Alexander, whose pass to Yardley was hooked into the net from close range. It was altogether a desperate game, with Millwall's aggressive forwards countered by a rugged home defence, which specialised in last-minute spectacular clearances. Though lacking the snap and robustness of Millwall the City had a large share of the game, and would not have lost if their forwards had served them better when it came to shooting. Their best chance fell to them just before the interval but Hurst missed Wrightson's pass.
Southern League
ARGYLE RESERVES 3
CITY RESERVES 1.
Like the first team (v Millwall) Exeter City Reserves were also facing an unbeaten side in Plymouth Argyle Reserves, at Home Park, in a Southern League match.
Argyle Reserves. Mackenzie; Milne and T.Black; Mackay, Forrest, and Grozier; Tepper, Briggs, Clark, Simpson, and Rich.
City Reserves. Davies; Lock and Smith; Keefe, Webb, and McClure; F.Jasper, Risdon, Poulter, McArthur, and Tierney.
The Grecians were the first to be dangerous, but Risdon spoiled a good move by shooting wildly over the bar. The Argyle through the close-passing of Briggs and Grozier made ground, and Davies saved a great shot from Briggs. After Mackenzie had made a magnificent save from Poulter, play swung to the other end, Rich scoring at the second attempt. Simpson added the Argyle's second goal from close range. After the change of ends Exeter were the more penetrative side, and McArthur scored in an empty net after Mackenzie and Milne had collided with each other. Then came a prolonged series of Argyle attacks, Davies making many brilliant saves, including one from Tepper which "brought down the house." Clark scored the Argyle's third goal.
