J.SCOTT: HERO OF A BRILLIANT CITY VICTORY

RANGERS SHOW FINESSE BUT LACK PUNCH

Dual Role After Clarke is Injured

Exeter City 3 Queen's Park Rangers 0.

Jack Scott was the hero of Exeter City's brilliant victory over Queen's Park Rangers at St James's Park this afternoon. In the first half he played finely in his usual position on the right wing, and then after Clarke was so badly injured that he had to be carried off Scott figured in a dual role, operating on the right as an inside-forward-cum-right-half-back. He frequently upset the Rangers' plans, and by quick tackling kept Exeter on the move and the opposing forwards in check time and again. He well deserved the ovation accorded to him at the close.

QUEEN'S PARK RANGERS

Clarke's injury, which occurred four minutes before the interval, was due to his falling awkwardly, and it appeared that his knee was twisted. Exeter played well under great difficulties, and the team showed no ill-effects following the mid-week cup tie with Charlton. The Rangers were a clever side but lacked punch. Wrightson in the first half, Poulter and T.Scott afterwards, scored the goals by which Exeter won.
