Exeter City experienced little difficulty in defeating Bristol City. The Grecians won by three clear goals, but ought to have succeeded by a bigger margin. That they did not do so was due to the brilliance of Dolman, who played a brilliant game, except for one blunder which led up to Exeter's third goal. But this was his only blemish in a really wonderfully fine exhibition of goalkeeping, and by that time a victory for Exeter was a near certainty. The City's first goal was netted by Webb from the penalty spot, the award being made for "hands" by Roberts. Scott scored the second, from Hurst's pass, two minutes before half-time. Hurst dribbled the ball into the net for Exeter's last goal with Dolman out of position, and another penalty, against the same player and for the same offence, was given, but Webb this time put his shot just over the bar.
