EXETER CITY
Ability to take their chances and a brilliant defence were the big features of Exeter City's splendid 3-0 victory over the Orient. The match was a personal triumph for Harry Poulter, who crowned a grand afternoon's work by registering a "hat-trick." Each of the goals was of the opportunist type, the result of good shooting and energetic following up. Another dominant factor in this game was the display of Webb. He completely subdued the experienced and normally clever Halliday and the other Clapton Orient forwards, who appeared very commonplace. Chesters was brilliant during the first half, when the Orient raided with great persistence. He was clever and resourceful, and made his saves through correct positioning. Though the margin was slightly flattering, Exeter deserved to win because of their better finishing ability. Unlike the Orient, the Grecians shot hard for goal when the opportunity presented itself. The Orient's best chance came to them shortly before the interval when one of the Exeter backs was adjudged to have handled the ball, and a penalty kick was ordered. Mayson took the spot kick, but to the dismay of the home supporters he drove the ball hard against the crossbar, Gray kicking to touch when the ball came back into play.

TIVERTON 0
Being without a League fixture this afternoon Exeter City Reserves engaged Tiverton in a friendly match at St James's Park. The City included a number of local amateurs in their team.
City: Davies; Lock, Smith; J.Channer, Keefe, S.Barnes; J.Taylor, R.Ebdon, A.J.Taylor, McArthur, A.Endacott.
Tiverton: S. Webber; L. Hellier, H.L.Kingsland; R.Croft, L.Grant, L.Rutter; F.Butler, E. Mahir, W.Kenshole, F.Pope, J.Hutchings.
The Reserves, after doing most of the attacking, established the and crashed into the net. lead after only three minutes. A shot from Barnes rebounded from the upright to Endacott, who banged in a shot which hit McArthur. A grand tackle by Lock stopped the Tiverton forwards, and McArthur put the ball through to Endacott, who dribbled past about half of the Tiverton team before transferring to A.J.Taylor, who scored a very simple goal. The Exeter goal had a narrow escape in the second half when Smith got in the way of Davies's clearance. The ball bounced back across the goalmouth but the Tiverton forwards were too far back to take advantage. McArthur and A.J.Taylor scored Exeter's other goals.
