MILLWALL went down to a new-look Exeter City but not without a tremendous fight in an action-packed first half. Lee Roberts, normally a defender but switched to attack. put City ahead in the 10th minute. But John Lyons equalised for Millwall only three minutes later when Exeter's Keeper Ian Main reacted slowly to a free kick.
Peter Rogers put Exeter in front again after 21 minutes, though, when he sent a shot sneaking past an unsighted John Jackson. The second half contained nothing of note, but Paul Coleman and Paul Roberts managed to get themselves booked.
